The Captain's crew recently went on a little tailor-fishing adventure to K’gari. There are two things we reckon you need on any camping trip: a decent place to rest your noggin, and a decent place to plonk your backside. We’d heard a bit about these ParkIt chairs that had sold out seven times, so we reached out to Gowings Pacific Trader to see if we could borrow a couple and find out what all the fuss was about.

First impressions? We loved the look, and they felt solid. The aerospace-grade aluminium frame is lightweight but tough as nails. Being able to sling the chair on our back with the shoulder straps left our hands free to wander up the beach with a rod in one hand and beer in the other. The woven polyester webbing had enough give to cradle our sandblasted rears after a day chasing tailor, while the faux teak armrests added just the right amount of style to our set-up.
The real gem though was the cooler under the seat. Load it with ice for frosty tinnies all day. Add the Outpost Accessory Mount and you’ve got somewhere to hold your rod or beach umbrella. Clip on the cup holder and suddenly every beer has a home, meaning your drink’s never far from your hand.

For day trips, the ParkIt beats hauling a cooler and a chair separately.

Oh, and one more thing we loved: a mangrove is planted for every chair sold — so you can sip your beer and feel good about it. Let’s just say we were all trying to figure out how we could 'accidentally' not return these chairs.
